Joint postgraduate coursework programs

ANU and UniSA are developing the Integrated Graduate Development Program (IGDP) as an advanced modular training program for engineers, IT project managers, and applied scientists working in industry. The first postgraduate coursework program to be developed as part of this new initiative is the Masters of Engineering Practice (MEP) .

Integrated Graduate Development Program (IGDP)

The IGDP will provide graduates of the scheme with an academic platform to prepare professionals for greater challenges in their career ahead. The program will improve technical and business awareness and prepare engineering graduates for middle-management and senior leadership roles within key functions in the industry. A key feature of the IGDP will be that it will support student mobility as workforce needs or career opportunities cause students to shift location or rebalance their study plans.

The IGDP aims to:

  • develop the professional capabilities of engineers and managers within the context of their organisations
  • enhance their technical and business awareness
  • prepare them for roles within key functions in the industry
  • enable them to obtain a higher academic qualification
  • enhance the quality and competitiveness of the industry with a structured, high quality professional development scheme
  • provide the foundation of a program that can be tailored for the specific needs of a company or industry body.

The IGDP will build upon the strengths of the ANU and UniSA to bring a Systems Engineering approach to the management of technology and operations relevant to engineering managers, IT project managers and applied scientists. The aim is to create a structural vehicle for an ongoing constructive relationship between industry and academia in technical specialist areas not currently widely available in this form.
